Numlock on boot in Ubuntu 14.04

#1

How do I make the numlock key come on (and stay on) by default when I boot up Ubuntu.

I have number characters as part of my user password and I have to press the numlock key (albeit only once) every time I enter my user password at the login screen. The keyboard is just a standard USB type with no special functions.

Thanks

To enable numlock at the boot time, you must have numlockx installed, if not install it using apt.

$ sudo apt-get install numlockx
Next, open the **lightdm.conf** file with your choice of editor, here I am using nano editor.
$ sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Add the following line to the file:
greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on
