Centos 7 does not detect my webcam [SOLVED]

Hi everyone,

OK, this is a noob question. I’ve recently signed up for the LFSC exam. I decided to install Centos 7 on one of my older machines because I think it’s one of the most popular distros for administration/servers. This is solely for the purpose of practicing. Here are my system specs:

Now, I tried using skype and Cheese, but to a no avail both of them start nicely, I can perform a test call with Skype, but it doesn’t show video. I tried all possible USB ports for my camera, but I just can’t figure out why it won’t work.

Please tell me what info you need so that I can post the output here.

Thanks!

P.S My camera is also very old: Canyon CNR - WCAM 413 and it worked fine on Arch Linux, Ubuntu and Mint.

Hi ,

try to re-plug the camera also monitor dmesg log you can see if any new component detected on your system.

Thanks @n_rajeshnadar

Solved! I just plugged it into another port and it worked! I could swear I tried all ports last night.
