How to setup Name-based virtual hosts in Ubuntu

Hello guys

I would like to know how i can setup name-based virtual hosts on Ubuntu using Apache2 server. I have tried out many sites for this but i have failed to setup virtual hosts on my machine. Can someone please explain to me the precise steps to follow.
