Need suggestion about perl and python

Hi Team

I am currently working as a linux administarator. I am very much confused which language to study such as perl or python.

For my field i need to automate small small things. Some people is telling go perl and rest of the people is telling go for python.

Please suggest and guide me which i can choose and which will be helpful for my carrier

python is used many automated apps . i suggest python.

I suggest python if you are new for coding and it is so easy to understand,used in many automated system.
