What scripting language to learn next after shell

Hello everyone

I have been learning shell scripting this year and i feel i need to learn another scripting language in the new year. I was just wondering what language i can learn next to prepare for Life in Linux and System administration. Some of the possible options could be Python, Perl and many others.

Linux experts can offer some advice.
